We were engaged to review an existing API integration set up by previous developer who had been employed directly by the client. Unfortunately they were unable to offer continued support on a piece of code that had been originally built in an over complex manor.

The decision was made to create a new version of the integration which would allow us as external developers to offer continued support as the needs/requirements change in the future.

The project evolved as we moved forward which gave us some headaches, fortunately the client was understanding of how complex the work was. With the update format of how the data was transferred between the two platforms (with our software working in between) were able to get the new API in place which crucially lowered their permissions count from 700,000 to a more manageable amount.
